Good news, the exciting Uganda Gorilla Trekking from Kigali can be done in 2-3 days incase you have limited time or are tight on budget.

Do you have a short time in Rwanda and want to experience gorilla trekking, but can not afford the Rwanda gorilla permit? or you do not wish to drive the long 7-8 distance from Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi?

Good news, you can now do the Exciting Uganda gorilla trekking from Kigali in the 2 National parks that offer the mountain gorilla experience. These 2 parks are Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Mgahinga National park.

Bwindi is home to about half of the remaining mountain gorillas and there 4 sections where you can do the tracking from. These include; Buhoma in the North, Ruhija in the East and Rushaga and Nkuringo in the south. The tracking location can be decided depending on the availability of the gorilla permit.

Bwindi national park has 18 gorilla families that can tracked everyday.

Mgahinga is a home to 1 group of Habituated gorillas (. These can be tracked on a daily basis and only 8 permits are given out per day.

3 mountains can be found in the Mgahinga area, these Mt Gahinga, Muhavura and Sabyinyo, a 8-9 hours hike to these mountains can be included in the itinerary incase you have more time for the adventure. Those interested in bird watching, Mgahinga has about 115 bird species.

How long is Gorilla Trekking?

How you track gorilla in Uganda depends on the current location of the gorillas, the prevailing weather conditions in the forest even the pace at which the tourist hikes. It takes between 2 hours and 7 hours for the experience. However, you are guaranteed seeing the gorillas.

It is advised to be in good physical condition, a good level of physical fitness is needed to successfully track the gorillas. Therefore prior physical exercises before embarking on the trip is recommended since the hike might be a bit difficult depending on the weather conditions and location.
